There are ghostly rumours of a British commander who was killed here, and the location has a gloomy past. After coming to Kota and settling here with his family, Major Charles Burton was assassinated by Indian soldiers in 1857 during the Sepoy Mutiny.

It’s supposed that his spirit now resides in the palace. Although the ghost is supposedly benign, it frequently senses the presence of guests, security personnel, and others.

The Lambi Dehar mines were formerly operational, but hundreds of miners died as a result of unsafe working conditions and a lack of safety precautions. Hundreds of victims’ spirits are rumored to haunt the site today.
